Before formulating a project or making an investment decision, there’s a question that’s rarely answered with enough rigour: what does the market, the competition and the numbers actually say? This pillar exists to answer it with data, not intuition.
We work with entrepreneurs who need to validate a business hypothesis before scaling it, and with established companies that need an objective, external second opinion on a high-impact strategic decision.
- Market and feasibility studies
- Business models and financial projections
- Sector competitive intelligence
- Value proposition design
Funding & Innovation
There is no single “CORFO instrument” — there’s an ecosystem of lines with different objectives, from seed capital for an early idea to bank guarantees for an established company. Choosing the wrong instrument, or preparing an application without understanding the evaluator’s real criteria, is the most common reason a good project isn’t awarded.
Given its depth and the sheer number of instruments available, this pillar has its own dedicated guide — covering nine co-funding instruments, six credit guarantee and coverage lines, and a free self-assessment for your project.
- 9 co-funding instruments, from Start-Up Chile to Escalamiento
- 6 credit guarantee and coverage lines
- Free self-assessment for your project in under 3 minutes
- 80% historical award rate
Management & Human Capital
A well-formulated project can still fail if no one leads it with method. This pillar exists for what comes after the award or the strategic decision: real execution, with people, deadlines and results that have to be sustained over time.
We apply agile methodologies (Scrum) to follow up on projects with multiple milestones, and support team and leadership development when the gap isn’t technical, but managerial.
- Agile Project Management (Scrum)
- Coaching and executive development
- Results and impact evaluation
- Team and internal process structuring
How we work: a four-stage process
The same rigour we apply to preparing a CORFO application applies to any strategy or management service you engage us for.

Diagnosis
We map the real state of the project: technical, financial and market gaps, before committing to any instrument or strategy — including team interviews and a review of the available documentation.

Design & Formulation
We choose the right instrument or route and build the application, business model or pitch in the language the evaluator or investor expects, making sure every assumption is backed by verifiable evidence.

Execution & Management
We support technical and administrative execution — disbursement reports, milestones, progress reports — and anticipate observations before they become formal objections from the agency or investor.

Closing & Scaling
We close the project, measure the real result, and assess the next step: a new application, a capital round, or an operational expansion, documenting learnings that support the next stage.
What people ask most before engaging a service
How are URKAN’s consulting fees structured?
Fees are structured case by case according to complexity, scope and the type of service involved. We offer fixed-fee, success-fee, or blended arrangements. The initial diagnostic session costs 1 UF (Chile’s inflation-indexed accounting unit), fully deductible from your first engagement, and lets us define the right scope together.
How long does a typical strategy or human capital project take?
It depends on scope. A focused market study can take 3 to 4 weeks. An executive coaching or team-structuring process usually runs 2 to 4 months, with follow-up milestones defined from the start.
Do you work with companies outside the Santiago Metropolitan Region?
Yes. We support projects throughout Chile via virtual sessions and site visits as needed. We have particular experience in the Antofagasta Region, with nationwide coverage.
Do you sign Non-Disclosure Agreements?
Absolutely, without exception. All information shared with URKAN is covered by contractual confidentiality from the very first contact. We sign mutual NDAs whenever a project calls for one.
What’s the difference between a market study and a business model?
A market study answers whether real demand exists and who the competition is — it’s diagnosis. A business model defines how your project will generate and capture value sustainably — it’s design. They’re often engaged in sequence, but they are not the same thing.
Can I engage just one part, for example only coaching, without the rest?
Yes. The three pillars — strategy, funding and innovation, and human capital management — can be engaged independently. Many clients start with just one and add the others later, as the project progresses.
Is CORFO funding consulting engaged separately?
It’s part of the same three-pillar model, but given its depth it has its own dedicated guide, covering all nine instruments, the available guarantees and coverage, and a free self-assessment. You can review it in full in our CORFO Funding Guide.
